This position is available due to an upcoming retirement - the person will be working with the incumbent over the next several months

Responsible for directing and coordinating all areas of Greater Michigan operations, including Construction, Transmission & Storage, Field Service, and Distribution. Line responsibility for directing and coordinating the construction, operations, maintenance and repair of the gas distribution system and provision of service on customers' premise in geographic area of responsibility.
Key Accountabilities:
o Utilize practices and principles that focus on contribution to team
and operation excellence, ensuring that results are achieved and
driven by delivering value to the customer
o Identify, champion, and drive changes necessary to ensure continuous improvement in performance.
o Integrates operational plans with plans of other work groups and business units.
o Partners with other regional and process management to implement tactics, control costs and make mid-course adjustments.
o Direct and coordinate all operating activities in area of
responsibility and coordinate operating activities with other areas
o Ensure compliance with the Michigan Gas Safety Code
o Develop operations score card and ensure successful execution
o Identify and implement high level long term strategic and tactical
plans to ensure corporate objectives are met
o Oversee effective use of Management Operating System in area of
responsibility
o Responsible for O&M, Capital and Construction planning, budgeting and cost
control
o Select, develop and maintain a highly qualified, highly motivated,
productive, diverse and team-oriented work force
o Identify, champion and drive changes necessary to ensure continuous
improvement in performance
o Build customer loyalty by providing superior service to meet or
exceed the needs and expectations of all internal and external
customers
o Identify key operational issues, strategies and assumptions that
align with corporate strategies and goals
o Manage safety programs and focus employees on working safely at all
times
o Integrates operational plans with plans of other work groups and
business units
o Establishes priorities and resource allocation of capital and O & M
expenditures
o Partners with other regional and process management to implement
tactics, control costs and make mid-course adjustments
o Line responsibility for directing and coordinating the activities
required to connect new customers for the entire company
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's degree
o Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
o At least seven years leadership experience; preferrably in the Gas/Energy industry, multi-site
o Knowledge of energy industry regulations and requirements
o Proficient computer skills
o Ability to direct teams at remote locations
o Experience in conflict management, problem solving, planning,
budgeting and cost control.
o Basic knowledge of CI principles/concepts
o Experience working with a represented workforce preferred.
o Strong organizational, analytical and decision making skills.
o Interpersonal skills, including ability to influence and build trust
with employees of all levels and with customers and suppliers.
o Ability to build consensus and implement initiatives at all levels of
the organization.
o Travel requirement 50% may be more
